Alan Turing, the father of modern computing

Introduction​

Alan Turing, born in 1912, is one of the most brilliant minds of the 20th century, often celebrated as the father of modern computing.

Major contribution​

  • Turing machine: He conceptualized the universal computer, a fundamental idea for the development of the computer.
  • Enigma Code: During World War II, Turing played a key role in deciphering the Enigma code, used by the German army.

Vision​

Turing was fascinated by the idea of ​​replicating human intelligence. He introduced the “Turing test” as a criterion for artificial intelligence.

Anecdote​

Because of his homosexuality, Turing was persecuted in post-war Britain and was sentenced to chemical castration. This tragedy led to his presumed suicide in 1954.

Legacy​

Turing is celebrated for his contributions to science. In 2009, the British government formally apologized for the treatment of Turing.
